Commonwealth Brands
Moorefield Engineering, P.C. is currently providing ongoing structural consulting services for Commonwealth Brands, Inc. in Reidsville, North Carolina. Our primary responsibilities are conducting facility
floor live load evaluations and identifying areas requiring structural upgrades for a 50 million dollar equipment upgrade for their tobacco manufacturing facility. Our service will extend through the spring of 2009 and we hope
to continue a long standing relationship with Commonwealth Brands, Inc. after completion of this project.
Forsyth County Schools
Moorefield Engineering, P.C. is currently providing structural engineering services on numerous projects for the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System. Current projects under
construction include Caleb's Creek Elementary School, Ibraham Elementary School additions/renovations, Zone 8 Elementary School, South Area Middle School, West Forsyth High School additions/renovations. A two
story educational wing addition at Sedge Garden Elementary School is scheduled for design completion in December of 2008 and should be issued for bids in late 2008 or early 2009.
Historic Salisbury building to be renovated for children's theater
MEPC was proud to be a partner with Peterson Gordon Architects for the renovation design of the Piedmont Player's Children's Theater building
in Salisbury, North Carolina. The project was designed for LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification. The project is currently out for bidding
and construction should begin in spring of 2009. We look forward to watching the historic building go through a transformation into a theater.
First LEED Certified Building in Forsyth County, NC
MEPC was proud to be a partner with Troxell Gibbons Architects for the design of the new Family Services office building in Winston-Salem, North
Carolina. This was the first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified building constructed in Forsyth County. A dedication ceremony was held
June 4, 2008. The general contractor for the project was Frank L. Blum.
Piedmont Triad Leadership Institute
Jerry W. Moorefield, P.E. was selected as the Stokes County representative to serve on this newly formed group by the Piedmont Triad
Partnership. The group consists of 33 members from the 12 county Piedmont Triad region. The counties are Alamance, Caswell, Davidson, Davie, Forsyth, Guilford,
Montgomery, Randolph, Rockingham, Stokes, Surry and Yadkin. The group participated in a week long leadership training session at The Center for Creative
Leadership in Greensboro, North Carolina in May 2008. The group was formed to develop ideas and to establish a leadership group that could more effectively
promote the 12 county region. Three committees were formed from the group, the branding committee, vision committee, and the entrepreneurial & education
committee. Projects were developed by each committee and work continues on putting our projects into action.
